چکیده

Abstract Background To investigate the expressions of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and S100β their diagnostic values for sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). Methods One hundred patients with sepsis treated from August 2021 to 2022 were included. They assigned a group (n=65) an SAE (n=35), while 50 healthy volunteers physically examined in same period enrolled as control group. The levels GFAP NSE detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, that was determined transmitted immunoturbidimetric assay. GFAP, detected, correlations analyzed. Results Compared mild moderate SAE, those severe had higher (P<0.05). coma than consciousness disturbance, they poor prognosis good Positive identified between (r=0.573, P=0.001), (r=0.468, P=0.005), (r=0.540, P=0.001) expression SAE. alone, combination sensitivity lower specificity diagnosing Conclusions There are among S100β, combined detection these three indicators is highly valuable diagnosis

Plasma Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein, D-Dimer and S100β Protein: A Panel for Differential Diagnosis of Acute Stroke

Objectives: To explore the diagnostic utility of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), S100β protein and dDimer for differentiation between cases of acute stroke compared to CT findings as a gold-standard diagnostic modality. Patients & Methods: The study included 80 patients; 51 males and 29 females with mean age of 49.6±6.8 years. Mean time lapsed since occurrence of symptoms till sampling ...

Specificity of the glial fibrillary acidic protein for astroglia.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFA) is the main constituent of glial filaments and the close similarity of GFA and neurofilament protein has been recently reported. However, the immunofluorescence staining of peripheral nerve which may be observed with GFA antisera is not due to cross-reaction between GFA and neurofilament protein. Staining of peripheral axons was also observed with control s...

Effects of sevoflurane and propofol on S100β and neuron-specific enolase protein levels during cardiopulmonary bypass.

AIM Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is associated with the release of S100β and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) indicating cerebral cell injury. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of propofol and sevoflurane on S100β and NSE levels in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty male patients undergoing CABG were randomly allocat...

Modelling and Characterization of Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) is an intermediate-filament (IF) protein that maintains the astrocytes of the Central Nervous System in Human. This is differentially expressed during serological studies in inflamed condition such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Therefore, it is of interest to glean molecular insight using a model of GFAP (49.88 kDa) due to its crystallographic nonavailabil...

Neurological outcome after cardiac arrest: a prospective study of the predictive ability of prognostic biomarkers neuron-specific enolase, glial fibrillary acidic protein, S-100B, and procalcitonin.

BACKGROUND/AIM Factors affecting neurological outcome and the usefulness of neuron-specific enolase (NSE), S-100B, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), and procalcitonin (PCT) in predicting neurological outcomes were assessed in patients who survived at least 24 h after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty successfully resuscitated cardiac arrest patients were ...
